Tasty homemade treats for dogs and cats
Special thanks to Mountain View Market Co-op for this recipe.
Tasty Cat Treats
1/2 cup quinoa flour
1/2 cup brown rice flour
1 tbsp dried catnip
4-5 oz cooked meat (sardines, tuna or chicken)
1/4 cup parsley, rough chopped
1/2 tbsp of oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Throw all of the ingredients in a food processor fitted with the blade attachment until it comes together. It should be cohesive, and just a little sticky.
If you would like cute shapes, dump the dough out on the parchment paper on the counter and press with your fingers (or use a rolling pin) to about 1/4 inch thickness. If you don't care about the shape you can just pinch off pieces and make little balls. Remember these are treats and shouldn't be too big.
Transfer treats to prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes until they are dry to the touch and a little browned. Allow to cool completely before giving them to your cat. Store in an airtight container.
Catnip Tea
1 tbsp dried catnip
16 oz hot water
Place the dried catnip in a tea ball and place in hot water.
Let the tea brew until the water has cooled to room temperature.
Remove tea ball and serve to cat.
