Tasty homemade treats for dogs and cats

Special thanks to Mountain View Market Co-op for this recipe.

Tasty Cat Treats

1/2 cup quinoa flour

1/2 cup brown rice flour

1 tbsp dried catnip

4-5 oz cooked meat (sardines, tuna or chicken)

1/4 cup parsley, rough chopped

1/2 tbsp of oil

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Throw all of the ingredients in a food processor fitted with the blade attachment until it comes together. It should be cohesive, and just a little sticky.

  • If you would like cute shapes, dump the dough out on the parchment paper on the counter and press with your fingers (or use a rolling pin) to about 1/4 inch thickness. If you don't care about the shape you can just pinch off pieces and make little balls. Remember these are treats and shouldn't be too big.

  • Transfer treats to prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes until they are dry to the touch and a little browned. Allow to cool completely before giving them to your cat. Store in an airtight container.

Catnip Tea

1 tbsp dried catnip

16 oz hot water

  • Place the dried catnip in a tea ball and place in hot water.

  • Let the tea brew until the water has cooled to room temperature.

  • Remove tea ball and serve to cat.
