Dog Days

Dog Days was a success and we were happy to meet some new friends! The day began with a demonstration by the US Border Patrol who showed how Terra is trained to find narcotics. Next, participants watched a demonstration of Barn Hunt, a dog sporting event which gives dogs a chance to hunt for (protected) rats in the hay. Dogs and their humans got involved in games for prizes. There was a dog and human look-a-like contest, relay race for dogs and humans to run together, and a trick and talent show. Dogs also sampled smoothies from Bow Wow Blends; had their nails trimmed by Aggie P.A.W.S.; registered for Barn Hunt with Pawsitive Paws and Leash Up; learned about obedience from the Dog Obedience Club of Las Cruces and Cloud 9 K-9 Training; and met the humans who run My Pet Space boarding and day care. Striking the Wonder Dog and the Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue were also in attendance to shake paws and learn about how the dogs work.
